Really excellent video Steve, you're quite good at this.

    Thumbs up Re: Fading Backgrounds

Neat tutorial Steve. I'm keeping this one in my top drawer.

Steve - EXCELLENT video. Really appreciated.

Let me ask you....now that you taught me (and others) how to graduate the background, what is the step to do the same to the outside area surrounding the background? Not sure what that's called, but the entire area surrounding the background is what I am referring to.

I have noticed some sharp websites have the website background graduating one way and the outer area graduating the opposite way.

How do I do the same process to that external area?

Jerry you need do nothing more.
Following my video creates the full background to your website as you require.
You can create a page background by using a rectangle shape on top.

However, WD6 has just introduced a way to use the 'pasteboard' (the area outside the page area) as a web site background, which essentially does the same thing yet leaves the page area intact. But this is pretty much the same as using the method described above.

But, if you want to add that graduated tile to the 'pastboard' area (and thus turn it into a web site background instead of the other method) - just ctrl+drag'n'drop the bitmap tile you created from the bitmap gallery directly onto the pastboard instead of pressing the 'background' button

    Steve,

I watched your video that you created for me because I know have a project that requires the fading background and I follow the steps perfectly, but when I press the background button in the Bitmap Gallery after selecting the image, the background does not change.

What do you think I am doing wrong?

    Steve - I got it.

I re-read your post and realized I needed to CTRL-drag and drop to the paste board.

    My bad!

    Thanks again,
    Jerry

Right-click the page and select 'Default Background colors'
Click the bitmap in the bitmap gallery and then click the 'Background' button.

    Edit: OK.
But ctrl+drag to the pasteboard does not work for WD5. My video shows the method for adding a bg to the 'page' which is suitable for all versions.

Yes I am using Web Designer 6 so it worked when I used the CTRL-drag to the paste board perfect.

    Thanks for the follow up,
    Jerry
