Thread: First Flash

    Default First Flash

I have been creating websites in Frontpage for years. Don't laugh.

    I have been enlightened!

Xara Web Designer 6 is awesome and I also bought Xtreme 5 for creating Flash files not knowing I could actually do it in Web Designer.

But I am getting frustrated and hoping someone can guide me or give me a little help. All I want to do is create a fade in and out on 3-4 pictures. Pretty easy, I know.

But I cannot figure out how to make that happen smoothly after watching videos and reading the manuals for the past 2 days.

The site I am working on with Web Designer is > http://testsite.semmasters.com/

I have the home page semi-layed out. I want to insert the flash file to replace the picture on the left side of the page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Hi Jerry

If you flash is not "smooth" I suspect you have forgotten to name your pictures??

I am using Xtreme 5 and I am trying to learn this, but the tutorials I am following are different.

For instance, in the very first step on Ron's tutorial it asked me to right click on the imported image and select Copy Bitmap. But, there is no Copy Bitmap in this version.

Also, he noted that when importing images they are always centered, but if I view the image in a browser, it only displays a portion on the image because it is not on the working area (the white box)

So I do not know how to proceed.

    Please advise.

    Thank you,
    Jerry

PS - thanks for being patient with the Flash Rookie

    Right-click copy name.jpg
name being the name of your imported photo.

Drag it to the page area Jerry.

Steve - I am going to look over (the easy way out) for now.

But I will be spending more time on Xtreme. I am way over my head for sure, but I'd love to learn more and be able to create my own logos for clients instead of outsourcing.

    Thanks again for the video.

    Jerry
