Should I name menu buttons

Hi,

I now have some drop down menus on my site. I notice that when I run my site through a program that views the site like a robot would, the results do not show any of the words on my buttons, or my header. Would you recomend giving each button and the header an alt description, or does this not really matter?

Yes that's because they are images and not text, so nothing to read..

Yes I would, you can add text via the 'Alt' attribute found under Web Properties>>Image>>Image Description

Then I assume that Alt text should always be added.
For some reason I don't get Alt text showing for Home page.
