Ok Woodwater, I can use a photo as bitmap fill to fill another objects, also then i edite it as fill in the objects, but Photo or bitmap you can edite it in pixel editor or in Xtreme as photo and you can trace it like what you did in your xar file (nn), BZW you are on the right way now, and the hat shape you must join it to get the background for all other objects. i attached a Bitmap, JPEG for you to see where you can join this shape.
And Please don´t answer or reply your post with QUOTE.

I don´t speak of Break shapes i said to you join the hat shape with the FREEHAND TOOL, and please if you follow my instructions in the attached image, you will get a closed shape,..... then there are some another shapes you need them to subtract from the hat shape.

Lightbulb Re: Cost of making comics

    Woodwater,

I still contend that you're not performing the initial steps of Paul's tutorial using the appropriate settings. As such, the results of your 'Bitmap Trace' are producing too many objects. See the attached comparison from your trace in the 333.xar file you provided vs. my bitmap trace results. You've got way too many objects and I think that may be why you are unable to get the shapes to combine correctly. I'd go back to the beginning of the tutorial and start over again. Perform each stop as described and verify your results before starting the next step.

Believe me the additional time and energy will be more than worth it as you can see from Black Panther's and my results. Keep at it and don't give up. You'll be amazed at how much you can learn in a short amount of time from all of the tutorials provided on Gary Priester's XaraXone!

BTW, the extra scribbles you seem to be placing on your drawing aren't helping you to achieve the end result you're looking for, either.

First you get good, then you get fast,
    Harry
