Default Line Scale Toggle - Named item in an SWF annimation

    Dear All,

I am missing something here but I cannot see what from the Tutorials and helps.

I see the line scale toggle which allows you to choose between maintaining the width of a given line as you extend it's length or allowing the width to increase in proportion to it's length. This works entirely as you would expect.

However if the line concerned is to be included in a flash file and we name the line so that we get a smooth tween from one frame to the next the line behaves as though the line scale has been set to ON - ie the line does not maintain the required width.

Of course I can take the name off - in which case I loose the tween and the annimation is gif like.

I am sure that the answer must stupidly obvious to experienced users.

    Regards

    JohnMike

The Adobe Flash specification does not handle lines very well. A few posts in the past have mentioned the problem.

I'm not a Flash user so I do not have any specific information about the issue.

Hi Many thanks for your input. I do appear to be making progress.

It appears that whether you convert to shapes or do not convert to shapes some thickening of the line occurs regardless.

The key points that mitigate the effect of this significantly are:

    - Ensure the line thickness is an integer not less than 1.
    - Ensure inital x,y co-ordinates are integer
    - For each frame do not extend the length of the line by > 50%

The behaviour is still not consistant but it is livable with.

Question - would I do any better if I migrated to 5?

The issue is in the Flash format and not with the version of Xtreme.

Upgrading is always a good idea. But I don't think you will find any improvement in Flash until Adobe makes changes to how flash works internally.
