It seems that changing the skin requires loading different icons as well as the skin colour.

This would necessitate recreating the navbar registry I would assume, which reverts to the default toolbars.

I like the light interface and icons better.

That is correct. I believe I was the first to try it and report that using the shortcut method ruins your custom toolbars. I only use the XARALIGHT method now.
