Default Selection Tool like a Lasso addition

I would like to recommend an addition to the "Tools Pallete". Alot of times I want to group a lot of things together to move them. It would be nice to have a lasso type tool just like in Photoshop to select the separate parts and be able to move them. Currently I use the top "Selector Tool" to grab things that I want to group or just click on them with the shift key applied. If there is a better way, please let me know. Thanks,
I want to still be working in this program when I'm an old man sitting in my recliner.

    Marquee selection.

Use the Selector Tool and drag to select multiple objects. See the attached image for setting a behaviour for the selection.

plus in ver 5 you can hold down the alt key and move the mouse - every object you pass over will be selected

again not sure if that was in ver 4 or not...

Thanks! Now that was a fun discovery. Strange that it would do that, but exactly what I wanted the tool to do. Shift+alt AWESOME!

    Hi Bill

I'm refering to what xtreme help calls 'scribble selection' - the use of shift or ctrl, as well as alt, give extended functions, agreed

    from xtreme 5 help:

    Selecting objectsScribble Selection

In the Selector Tool, drag with "Alt" held down and instead of dragging a box, a freehand line is draw. Every object that is touched by the line becomes selected. Hence you can drag the mouse around the page, touching all the objects that you want to select. This also works in conjunction "Shift" for extend selection and "Ctrl" for select inside

    New to me too!

HOWEVER, it sure would be good if the Taskbar info at the bottom of the drawing window would list the alternative key functions for the Selector (and other tools). Longtime users, in particular, would benefit from this .
