Error Message: Can't create directory: File Exists

Hi guys, I just finished creating a website with Xara Web Designer, but when I try and publish it, I'm getting an error message "Can't create directory: File exists" any suggestions?

OK I am not going to be of much help in that case, my knowledge of Xara's in nuilt FTP is well none existent, there are members on here that do an excellent job in resolving FTP issues I am sure one of them will chime in soon and offer some more help.

The only thing I can advise you to do in the meantime to speed the porcess up would be to look at this thread specifically post number 2 from Soquili:

Fowllow his instruction there and post the report then I am sure someone will be able to assist you

Generally this means the folder is already created, so it can be ignored - it's just a message. Did you try publishing a couple of times perhaps and expected to see something happen? Do your files upload after the message? Have you checked online?

Try an FTP client instead of the Xara publishing system. FTP client let you *see* what's going on.

Thanks Sledger, yes I tried 5+ times and had the same error message. I'm using ws_ftp right now, and it looks like its downloading.

I'll post and let you know how it works out.

Hi Blur,

One other suggestion is to make sure you have a backup of the files you are about to upload, and a backup of the files already on the server.

Then, delete the files on the server (folder included if you can) and try uploading again from Xara.
