Animating Knobs

Hi Folks,

I am trying to animate these knobs



I think I can model them using the tire technique here ... http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=37790 However animating them has me confused any thoughts ... I will work on a preliminary render perhaps soon but any suggestions before I start?
