    There is no mandatory and Im pretty sure flash can manage something different than integer values but since its engine is not so precise a 1pix grid could help to keep coherence in the final render. Obviously even the simplest resize would crash pretty everything (beside the line width)

    yes the default handling of fine lines in Flash swfs is still pretty basic, but the solution in Flash is to convert all lines to shapes for the final render to swf; then the thinnest lines in the static or animated swf appear as they 'should' and very fine effects of relative line thicknesses are revealed and these are retained even when the swf is scaled very small.

    Xara's export to Flash (swf) probably doesn't have this ability to render lines as fills, but it will most likely come.
