Default Removing part of a pic

I am almost sure I saw this somewhere but heck if I can remember where it was or how to do it. I could also be totally wrong. Anyway I have the pic that I attached. I want to remove the black strap and black curved pieces from the pic but maintain it's integrity. Any thoughts?

I managed to do a little better by drawing a rectangle, intersect shapes and then copy and pasting over the part I don't want to see. A little feathering and it looks OK so far.

I have managed to get the pic much better but not as good as Jamie did. The only issue is you can see where I have brought pieces together.

This doesn't look so bad. I use the pen tool to make the shape of the bottom 1/2 of the grill from the 1st gif and then intersected the shapes. Put the shape to the back and that made the missing portion appear as though it was there. Then again used the pen tool to draw a smaller shape intersected them and placed the shape over the white line. Feathered a bit and I thin it will be acceptable for what we are using it for. criticism or alternative ways please feel free to let me know.
