Default Font missing. Where did it go?

I did a drawing in 2008 which was only 2 lines of text in a font called AachenBT-Roman. I just opened the file and got an error message stating the font wasn't installed and was being substituted. I don't uninstall fonts, so any ideas where this might have gone? I've upgraded through Windows XP, Vista, now 7. Is it possible it was removed during one of those updates? It's not a big deal but would be nice to know how these things work.

    Hi Jim

I don't think it comes with windows or Xara so yes it probably got lost in an upgrade.

Another possibility is the font is installed on your computer but due to the "improvement" in the treatment of fonts, it is not being recognized.

Snide remarks aside, Xara has revised the font listing and naming to be consistent with Adobe which makes sense. But as a result of this, some fonts that are already installed are not being recognized. So check to see if fonts flagged as missing are indeed installed. If so, re-specifiy the font.

    Drwyd,
Thanks for the pointers. I downloaded and re-installed. Thanks.

    gwpriester,
I had thought something like that may be possible so checked my fonts folder to be sure, but not there. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Jim
