    Default Changing image colour.

    Hi

Just wondering if someone can maybe give me a hand in changing the colour of a picture in adobe photoshop CS4 Extended.

I need the picture for a project and need to change the blue column to orange.
I have tried loads of tutorials eg using:
Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation or Image > Adjustments > Replace Colour and even making a new adjustment layer.

however whatever I try it seems to come put very pixelated and with alot of black.
I have attached the images, the one with blue and then one I have completed. If anyone can tell me how to make it better it would be great.
People seem to be able to do it without even breaking into a sweat but whatever I do it seems to turn out badly

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I am on cs3 at the house. I have some presets in channel mixer. I will have to look again tomorrow when I stop by my office where I use CS4. I am showing as a quick rough look.
    Don't loose hope.

Well that looks better than I can do .

I'm thinking maybe going back to CS3. There are alot of tutorials on the web but allot seem to be for older versions and I really can't find some of the tools etc.

    But still its looking good

Try this - channel mixer download. Worth the $10.00, I created the orange look in seconds with it.

CS4 is the best so far, I always upgrade my adobe suite when a new one comes out.

Hang in there - have a great new year.

With this image having so many coloured pixels in the more neutral areas, making a selection to change colour in the more usual way is ruled out so make a selection with the pen tool, then add a new layer, fill the selection with the colour you want, change the blend mode of the new layer to color.

Add a screen layer, of the colour fill then adjust the opacity to get the look you want if the colour change was too dark.
