haakoo - I'll try that, but using notepad is for the user who does not create websites, but only wants to make simple updates using OS programs they already have.

Your file works every time in IE8 and FF.

1) I opened the .xar file
2) Created a new placeholder
3) Copied your code:
<iframe name=txtScroll scrolling=auto src=index_htm_files/test.txt transparency=false width=100% height=100% frameborder=1 marginheight=0 marginwidth=0></iframe>

into the new placeholder

4) saved the file, and exported for web
5) opened the index.htm in IE8

NOTHING!

It's like something in (my copy of) Xara is not saving correctly!

I disabled Protective mode in IE8, and that did not help.
I can see the iframe, just not the text.

FF is working.
