    Default Wedge-tailed eagle

One of my ambitions this year was to photo a wedge-tailed eagle. I realised this last week. I had a rare opportunity to take reasonably close photos of a young bird. Yes, this is in the wild! Taken with a Pentax K100 400mm telephot lens 500sec at F11. I can tell you this doesn't happen every day.

Note in one of the photos a small bird (willy wag tail) is 'attacking' the much larger eagle.

    Hope you enjoy the shots.
I have a shot of an adult flying which I will post shortly.

Great shots of what is claimed to be the worlds largest Raptor Rupert.

These were a common sight for us when we lived near Bega NSW.
You have to see them in person to get an appreciation of their size and majesty.
Some reports of 3 metre wing spans give a bit of an idea how big these birds get.

Nice shots. I've never seen one of these before, it's a very impressive and handsome bird. Thanks for sharing these Rupert.
