Here's an oil painting I call Twilight. It's my take on some cheetahs during that time special time.

Here is one of two oils I painted over a weekend when I was in junior high school as a tribute to one of my favorite artists; Frank Frazetta. He frequently created covers for the Edgar Rice Burroughs books I was so fond of as a kid. I still have this one, which is my take on his painting entitled "Return of the Mucker", it hung in my grandfathers house for many years until after died. The other ( not pictured here) was my take on his painting "Egyptian Queen". Dad has had that one hanging in his house for the last 40 years. Hopefully that one won't be returned for some time. They each received a painting for Christmas that year, I was about 14 when I painted them. Neither one turned out as good as the masters, of course, but Dad and Grandfather were duly impressed. Interesting to note, these were the only two works of art I every emulated.

PS The painting in the post above "Twilight" was created around the same time. One of my original works.

Mark, I really enjoy your homage to Frank Frazetta. I had a poster of Alien Crucifixion in my dorm at college, and never realized he did the Li'l Abner newspaper strips, working for Al Capp for several unaccredited years.

Oh, sorry! Back to your piece: I love it. It has the the right color, the motion makes it leap off the page, it's more than a homage. It's a piece that stands up in its own right, and a great testimonial that your are gifted outside of the (PC) box!

    Threee thumbs up!

Thanks Gary, it's nice to find someone else who likes Frazetta's work and knows who he is.

Haven't used a pen or a brush for awhile. I believe I'm a digital convert.

Call this one "Simple Things". An oil on canvas referring to some of the greatest pleasures. I originally painted this one for a fundraiser we were having at an establishment where I worked, but my wife insisted I give it to her, it's still hanging above our bed.

    Thanks Gary.

Here's an unusual one. Another oil on canvas.

Someone told me I ruined a perfectly good painting putting a tiny robot on the hawks back. But that's the beauty of creating, you can do what you want. LOL

Don't artists do "visually dissonant" things in just about any medium, for centuries?

    You didn't ruin anything, Mark.

You took an opportunity is what you did.

    Daring, personal, above all wry.

It don't rock and roll if you can't find a grain of humor in it.
