Default XaraXtreme Pro 5.1.2 Update error

Opening the program today I got a message re: 5.1.2 update available for XtremePro 5 CD. I clicked OK and got this error "Failed to contact xara.com or failed to read update information" with the option box "Continue". Clicking 'continue' proceeded to download and install to update with no problem. I'm running XP Pro w/ all updates and firewall is set to allow Xtreme inbound and outbound access. Has anybody else seen this message?

    Cheers,
    ~Fred

    Hi Fred,

I got that message on one of my systems (Windows 7) when updating but after clicking the Continue button everything updated correctly.

    Also got that error.

Surprised there was no announcement here. Or did I miss it?

    Anyway, here's the details:

    Thanks Bill and Steven,

Also surprised there was no announcement here on the NG.

I didn't find anything about it on the knowledge base or here so I submitted a ticket to Xara, mostly for feedback so they knew about it.

    It's workin' so no problem.

Steven, thanks for the info - I'm downloading it now. Seems you have to get this update from within Xtreme rather than directly from the web site.

I wonder if the error message on beveled groups is fixed yet? I didn't see it mentioned on the page you linked...

EDIT: Well, it seems to have fixed the bevel bug! Whoo-hoo!!

I'm happy they fixed the beveled groups bug, but I'm disappointed that they haven't fixed the drag n drop live effects bug

Is this one fixed? (The way to recreate the bug is given on post 16.)

Hi Fred.. and anyone else who might be put off updating by the apparent glitch...
Xara updated itself just fine here with no error message - XP Home SP2 / Norton Internet Security 2009 firewall and AV.
