Cool tutorial Gary! (even after such a fright!) I never noticed the transparency button on the fill gallery before. I used a photo of my Christmas tree from last year. Instead of using text I used my own handwriting, gave the lines a round cap, converted the lines to shapes, and added the shapes. I also played around with the transparency settings by selecting the transparency tool
