    Default IE 8 Display Problems

I have a menu displayed, using a placeholder. The menu works fine with Firefox, but with IE 8 the mouseover extension is covered by the image next to it. What am I doing wrong?

Something else I notice...the menu can be moved around by clicking and dragging on the top. Works well in FFox, but in IE, it disappears behind an invisible wall, top to bottom of the page...???

I finally re-did the site without using the placeholder javascript menu. I don't understand why people don't give up M$ Internet Exploder for something that works well! Thank you all who tried to help.
