Part of my daughter's recent Civics class project was to create a minimum of 5 President Trading Cards. After she struggled with MS Word trying to get them done I finally convinced her to give Xara Xtreme a try. Needless to say, after learning a few of the 'basics' I think she did such a good job that I'd post the result for everyone else to see.
I gave a hand with learning the Xtreme basics, some layout suggestions, a little advanced editing, and the final-final layout so that they could be glued together and cut correctly into trading cards. My wife also lent a hand with the fact gathering part of the project for the card backs. The sheet for the front of the cards was printed on premium luster photo paper while 67 lb. cardstock was used for the card backs. 3M Photo Mount Spray Adhesive was used to glue the card front and back sheets together. Except for a minor mishap with the straight edge and X-acto knife on one of the cards, we think they came out exceptionally nice.
We don't have the finished cards anymore as they were turned in Friday morning with the rest of the project. If my daughter gets the trading cards back I'll be sure to take a picture and post it, as well. Or maybe I'll just print out another set, cut 'em out, and fire up the camera. We'll see.
Enjoy,
