    Default Segmented circles..

OK, I know this subject has been discussed before, but it continues to be a pain for me whenever I revisit it. Yes, I have seen the tutorials for making pie charts. Slicing the circle to form segments is fine, it's dividing them into the circular bands in one foul swoop that is a pain for me - I can never get the circular bands to divide the segments in one go. The bright minds here will tell me how to do this in a very few steps.

I have coloured in a couple of segments - want every segment to be a seperate shape afterwards. Bit like a colour wheel

Here's how I do it. Maybe someone has a faster method.

Thanks - that looks perfect - I'll give it a go.

That has worked nicely, though I had to add one step between "convert lines to shapes" and "break apart" - I had to "add shapes" first.

Thanks very much - a great way to do it.

I think I must have done convert twice.

Convert to Editable Shape THEN Convert LINE to Shape.

    Glad it worked!

I'm playing around with this too at the moment and I think I have got it!

Now I want to take a slice and move outwards and I wonder if there's a way of moving objects a specified distance along a chosen angle?

Try using the X / Y Axis to move your piece by specific units

What would make me really happy is being able to shift all the segments radially outwards from the centre of the circle - "exploding" the segments if you like - so that there is a gap between each segment and it's neighbour on all sides.

Another thing to try is to contour the pie piece with a specific number of pixels with ONE step contour. Move the piece until both sides are touching and then you're even.

    Then remove the contour.

Thinking maybe something with the BLEND tool for that.

Gary is well versed in most things blend

    I'll try it out.
