Can't open my web page with Xara

This is the first time I have had any problem with Xara Extreme (5.01) or any version for that matter. I am trying to open my index.xar but cannot. I get an error message that reads: "a read error occurred (unknown) with this index file". Is there any way of working around this read problem? Thanks in advance.

Note: It is a .xar file you are trying to open yes? Not an index.htm? Because Xtreme (or Web Designer) cannot open/import htm files.

Thanks for th quick response. I am definitely trying to open the .xar index file. Will try the suggested work around and le t you know if I have any luck.

Tried the ExpanderXar.exe programit did produce the ouput.xar file but very little the website was recovered. Too bad

Hopefully you have a backup? If not, next time use xareg http://www.xaraxone.com/html/shareware.html it makes automatic backups every time you save the file. Works great!

To clarify what Jim has said, XaReg itself does not create the backup (.bak) files. It allows the user (via an Xtreme registry key) to enable Xtreme to make .bak files when you save.
