Question RE: Opening an EPS file in CorelDraw 12

Hello,

I am trying to open an .EPS file in CorelDraw 12, but am unable to! I tried "importing" it and that doesn't work either.

When CorelDraw opens, I get a big gray box with just the file name in it.

Can I anyone help me open this vector file? I know the file is a "good" file, so that isn't the problem.

How do you know it's a good file?
Are you opening it in another application to know this?

Yes - I was able to open it on my office computer without a problem. I am now trying to work on it at home and always seem to have an issue with CorelDraw 12.

Hi and welcome to TalkGraphics CG.

EPS files come in all sorts of 'flavors'. Can you post a link to the file, or attach the actual EPS file you're trying to open so we can try to figure out what's going wrong?

I'm willing to give it a go...

PS - What did you use to open the file at work if it wasn't CorelDRAW 12?

This is the one I am working on now but I always run into the same problem when trying to open this type of .EPS file in CorelDraw 12.

Opened fine for me in Illustrator and Corel X4.

I have no idea why that is!

Can you save it as a CorelDraw 12 file and send it back to me and I will try to open it that way?

Converted to PDF via AI should work? (I don't have your version of CD to test)

Also I loaded it (the PDF) into Xtreme 5 and exported as CMX 16bit - try that?

Thanks. This may be a silly question but, now that it is a .PDF file, how can I work on it in CorelDraw? (I thought a .PDF just lets me view it?)
