Design Help with Xara Web Designer 5.x

Hi.

I've tried to figure this out on my own now for about 3 days with no success. Im hoping someone can help...;

To keep it brief...

I am trying to make a "flash-like" pop-up window when I click a button on my page. I've just found this flash-based website to show you what I am aiming to achieve (or anything similar, ideally without using iframes).

Now, In the blue box titled Home PC Support, click the "Learn More" link.

This is what i am trying to achieve without using flash (anything similar would be fine, even a mouse-over was an idea, but not sure thats the best idea?)

This displays a "popup" window over the page, which when closed, returns you to the page you were viewing.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

You can use a popup layer (along with a Covoxer Tweak to close it). I'm sure someone can advise on getting the animation on the layer

Thanks for the reply neodeist. I've downloaded the files you suggest and will have a look now. I'm sure I've tried popup layers but am unsure how to use it properly; however, now that I know for sure I can play around / read up a bit more on layers!

I am not really fussed about the animation side of things, but I wouldnt say no If it can be done

No problem

Basicaly you just create a new layer with as much info on it as you want and leaving as much of the original layer to show through as required. Then you point the link to the layer. As you'll find, clicking in space will close the layer so that is where the tweaks for locking and/or closing the layer comes in. Not an expert there, but there are loads of threads relating to the concept

The simple effort in the .xar below might help explain it better. Just download it into Xara and preview.

Y, further to Johns advice you can always make your pop-up layer with a place holder which loads a flash file. See the attached. Unzip, open index.xar and preview.
