How do i make a guestbook?

Hello,

My English isn't very good so pls excuse me if i type any faults!

I created a website for an elementary school wit Xara web designer and i want to make a guestbook where visitors can leave a message or comment! But i dont know how? I could register on websites where i can get a guestbook that is full of advertisement and then i can put a link on my site. But i don't want that, i want to make one of my own!

Can anyone offer me some help?

Guest-books can be a double edged sword. They can quickly fill up with spam and obscene comments so use with caution.

I have used a php guestbook for many years and never get spammed:

Just a simple thing as limiting the allowed word length to about 10 letters reduced all spam since most spams contain links and they are longer than 10 letters. You do this in the sadmin section. You can ban words like (http), (www)...an so one.

And it's free.

This has been the best guest book I've ever used.

Hi Tom, probably the biggest reason you don't get spam is because of the use of captchas. Restricting text to 10 characters seems a bit harsh, it would rule out most email addresses for example.

I agree captchas help and limit bots. But we used to get quite a few still. For us, no need for email address in the body.
