transparency

Hi

I have an image with three layers that I want to make transparent using a gradient fromtop left to bottom right

found this

but I suspect it's not for CS4
also found the following

1. Create a transparency gradient
2. Goup the layers as a masking group
3. press alt and click on the dividing line

this again left me lost

How do Icreate a tranparency gradient? and how do I create a masking group?

click on the folder icon on the layers palet then drag your layers in to it then click on mask and do a black to white gradient or any other mask, see image
