Default How to Bevell edges on just 2 sides of a rectangle

    Hi.

Im new to Xara and apologise in advance for being thick.

I am trying to create a rectangle shape to use on my website with bevelled edges on just the two upright sides. I can manage to create an object with bevvled edges on all four side but cannot fathom how to create the object with just bevlled edges on the two upright sides.

    Can anyone help me?

    Many thanks

Is this what you are after? If it is then just draw a rectangle then use the Ruler Guides to position your bevel, - Then with the Shape Editor Tool with "snap to guides" on from Window Menu draw your rectangle for your bevel, - With the same tool selected draw a marquee selection with your mouse so the each of the four points you have just drawn for the bevel are red, - Go up to the menu line and select the straight line so that the blob that you have drawn will fit you rectangle. - Then use the Paint Tool and go for the "linear fill" using the Ctrl to constrain the angle of the fill. - Do the same on the other side.

With Xtreme there are always many ways to accomplish a task.

I would use clipview to make a two sided beveled rectangle.

I'm afraid I can't see Steves reply for some reason, but for what its worth (and his reply might say the same thing), why not create your bevelled rectangle and then just chop the two sides you don't want bevelled off using arrange>combine>subtract.
I've gone a bit further and chopped it in half but you get the idea?

Derek that is another great way of creating a two sided bevel.

If you cannot see Steve's video, your system may not have the same codec used.

EDIT: I just checked Steve's video and it uses the same Codec used to create my video. Possibly the fact that his video is not uploaded to the Talkgraphics servers?.

    Download my video from http://www.talkgraphics.com/attachme...c=1&d=12537024

The link available from the "Properties" for Steve's video results in a 404 page not found error.

Thank you for all the explanations...very interesting solutions.

Steve's video is all messed up for me. His orange, double bevel square looks fine but his grey working area is pixelated and broken up as is all his popup windows. Very strange looking and there's no sound.

Nancy, Steve said he didn't think audio was necessary for his video (I asked ).
