    Default Strange appearance

    I'm working on a new web site and the client has requested a contact information at the bottom of the web page. In Mozilla it looks fine. In IE there is a strange appearance of some additional information that I didn't put there. In IE go to: http://ronaldcduke.com and see the text at the bottom of the page. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of that or how it got there in the first place?

    One other thing. I've created my 16x16 icon for this same web site, gave it the name <head>, put it in a placeholder, did a File, Export to Web site, cleared web history and I still don't see the favicon in the URL or Tab. Here's the code I put in the placeholder:

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="index_htm_files/bcefavicon.ico" >
    <link rel="icon" href="index_htm_files/bcefavicon.ico" type="image/gif" >
    R_o_n _a_l _d __C. __D_u_k_e

    Ron I see nothing strange in any browser. They all look identical here.

    And the reason you favicon isn't showing is because it hasn't been uploaded to the place the code is pointing to.

    Your code: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="index_htm_files/bcefavicon.ico" >

    So the browser expects the bcefavicon.ico to be here:

    http://ronaldcduke.com/index_htm_files/bcefavicon.ico

    ....but it isn't

    You don't have to give the .ico the name <head>, just the placeholder (don't know whether that would affect it though) and just the first 'head' entry is required I've found. The page looks OK using IE TAB in FF except for a bit of 'degrading' [see attachment] - couldn't test in IE properly as it's crawling again but I'm sure someone will.

    Just seen Steve's post, using "Ockham's Razor"!

    Text looks fine in FF3 here John (actually the same in all browsers for me).
    Haven't fiddled with the font options have you?

    ok, I think your instructions cleared up the favicon business, but the weird thing in IE is still there. Here's a picture:
