Default Animated GIF icon in Address bar

I didn't know you could do this, but after Steve Ledger's and Eric Bramhill's extreme patience with me, I finally got an icon in the Windows Address Bar for my web site's.

I took a chance and amazingly discovered that I can also place an animated gif as the icon. WaaaHoooo!

Posting this just in case anyone else would like to do the same.

    Yes sir:

The icon is not legible, but I guess that's because of the size of the icon?

Nice thought but sorry to rain on your parade Ron, a .gif is not an icon and won't show in IE. IE will not use bitmaps, only .ico

Your <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/index_htm_files/recapitalflagGIF.gif" /> also contains uppercase characters which should be avoided.

As you say, it's too big to use as a favicon.

Nothing animates in any browser here and IE only shows the default blue 'e' becuase you haven't used .ico

Ok. Understood. What code do I have to include to have the static icon to show when windows opens, without changing my code for Fire Fox animated gif?

    Ron

Do a search for Favicon - I think this has been covered several times.
