Hi
my project for tomorrow is to collect the "dead hard Drive" from the client, hang it on my test PC and to take it from there.
I agree with you seems fairly remote but .....
cheers

Ian,
Tried to open with my version - Corel Print House 2000 (which I believe is Print House 5) but although the files show as a thumbnail in the "open file" dialogue, I am getting an error - "Unexpected File Format" and a crash (probably the same as you are). I believe that rather than being corrupt these files have been created on a newer version of the programme.
Let us know if you manage to open them.
Keith

Hi
jusy found this via google.
Having tried renaming the files to .tif and failed to open them I'm off to search for printhouse v6 working on the principle that if v5 fails then 6 should work
cheers

"In earlier versions of Corel, CPT files are TIF files with the CPT
extension and supported in ThumbsPlus. In Corel 7 and later, CPT files
are another proprietary format that can only be supported through
Corel's OLE server.
.cpt is a Corel PHOTO-PAINT bitmap file, so yes TIFF would have been a likely format then.
However, your files are .cph type, which are not bitmaps, so renaming them to .tif will have no effect.
If you drop them into a text editor you can read stuff like:

Hi#
Ok despite my best attempts, I have failed to get a conversion program for CPH
However I have discovered that it was created using corel print house v6.
A search on the web shows that it is obselete and whilst sites list it ie amazon they have no stockbut there are a few sites listing an oem version for $29.99 which is ok because once I convert these files then they will be manipulated by corel x4. After that the software will never be used again
Has anyone used these sites?
http://lunderkin.com/search.php?q=corel+print+house
or where can I get a copy
thanks
Ian
Pretty much all of the software on sites such as those were never distributed as OEM.
OEM software is a special licensing system that allows computer manufacturers to supply pre installed versions with their hardware and in some cases allow third party manufacturers to buy then sell under their own branding.
I have never for example come across a PC system with an OEM version or CorelDrawX4 or Adobe Lightroom.
It's dodgy.
