Default Can a tiff file have a transparent background?

Help. I've been out the loop for a while so I'm a little rusty on photohop I'm afraid. I have a client who would like to use their company logo internally on PowerPoint presentation etc. They have requested the file as a jpeg with a transparent background. As far as I'm aware this is not possible. I would generally use an eps with a clipping path, but eps are not supported in Powerpoint. Tiff files are, but as far as I remember tiff files won't work with a transparent background (I've also tried and I can't get it too work). I'd really love to be wrong. Does anyone have any advice of suggestions please.
