Default Stop & Post August 2009

August and time for schools to begin classes again. At least in this part of the world.

Please take a few moments to stop what you are working on and share some of your Xara created images. Works in progress or finished images, what ever you would like to share.

The attached image uses some of the great clipart included with Xara X(treme).

Unique style as always Nice. How much of the sketchy look do you intend to preserve in the final drawing? Just curious how would it look like in simple vector version compared to "hand drawn" style

thanks John and Suvek - look forward to the finished Sports Girl, looks great

Humm not sure - I'm no fan of slick lines in themselves - one reason I guess that I have avoided using xtreme for linework up to now.

A couple of year ago I tried to use xtreme stroke shapes to render lines and though there are of course members here who do just that really well, it did not work for me.

All about style - I have to draw in one go - if it does not work I don't correct, I do it again.
Laying down path/lines, and shaping after, I just do not do; so shape editor tool is out as far as drawing goes too.

So... that really means the xtreme custom brushes. Vexating though they can be, almost always are, they are pressure sensitive and I have learnt how to get results I like by sticking to a specific drawing technique ..

Attached are two examples - both done with the natural media 'felt tip' brush, remade to be black and with pressure settings adjusted to suit my tablet settings and hand - the left hand one was done at zero smoothing, and the right hand one at the default 50% smoothing and a wider pressure range.

All I can say at this stage is it is likely somewhere between the two...
