    Default Placeholder problem

    Hello,

    a question to John or some other specialist: Iīve created in XWB a members section site, where i want to put active content. Unfortunately things do not work so well. As you can see the design has a placeholder for an html table, which works fine (you canīt see the table because the frames are set to invisible). Here the actice content has to appear. It does, but as the page has a fixed size it doesnīt fit vertically and horizontally to the content (you can see the attached jpg). How can i resolve the problem? Using the tweak for dynamic pages? Well, i donīt know how to do that for my design. Would be grateful for any help.

    Hi Nat,,
    Try inserting this code into the 'placeholder'
    <div style="width:100%;height:100%; overflow:scroll; position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px;">
    <div>
    Making sure to have the 'Table code inbetween the 'div' tags

    Hello Nat,

    it looks like you are using ASP. Am I right?
    If your server produces dynamic content that can have different height you have two options:
    1. Place it within a scrollable container.
    2. Use dynamic page tweak.

    To help you further I need more specific information. Your design is multipage and I don't even know which page is the one you are working on. Though most of them are rather similar.
    Anyway, some description of your contend and intentions would be helpful.

    Edit: Scotty just have described the first option while I was posting.

    Thank you Scotty and John for you quick reply. Itīs true, i have to give some explanations about the site iīm working on. Well, itīs a site for a little company iīve already made a website with XWB for. Now itīs the second site for them, but itīs more complicated. They want a members section where their clients can register, log in and follow their juridic cases. The ordinary site i have already finished without problems. What is missing is the members section that is not really in my responsability. I have only to deliver the designed template to a professional company that will do all the programming with ASP. The problem is, that i donīt know exactly what these software engineers need from me to do they work. I have received an e-mail from them with the attached jpg iīve posted before where they ask me for a template that grows with the content inside the placeholder. Not like in the jpg. This is necessary for all the 8 pages of the project (they look similar, but the content will be always different). So, thatīs what i need to do: giving to every of the 8 pages the possibility to fit the size of the changing content inside the placeholder in the middle. the pages have to grow if necessary, thatīs all.
    I hope my problem is more evident now. Help would be welcome.

    Ok. In this case you have to use dynamic page tweak.
    Still I wonder - do those professionals have XWD or do they give you some code to insert into your project?
    Do you give them already exported site in the form fo a set of HTML files and images folder, or is it a WEB file?

    If they give you some code that you have to put into your design (the html table or something), then you can simply create your design from the dynamic page tweak and it will work fine.

    If you need more help on using dynamic page tweak, please ask, I'll be glad to help.
    John.

    Thanks a lot for your help John, i really appreciate that. To your questions: Those professionals donīt know nothing about design and they donīt want to. They produce software for lawyers and offer all kind of services to them.
    Usually i send to them the html files with all the graphics made with XWB and they try to implement their scripts inside. I think theyīve never heard of XWB, at least they have no web designer in their company.
    So i will follow your advice and use dynamic page. I was thinking to rebuild the 8 pages exactly like they are with your dynamic page tweak. Is this the right way? It would be very helpful to me if you could control my work after that and eventually indicate corrections. Is this possible without stealing too much of your time?

    Thanks again

    Yes Nat, I can assist you with this project. This can help not only you but some others who may be interested in using this tweak.

    So, first of all I would suggest you read the description to understand how it works. It's described in the "manual.htm" supplied with the tweakset.
    You would need to rework your design a bit to coply with this tweak reqirements. You can either modify existing pages adding layers and placeholders with scripts from the tweak, or you can create new design from the tweak and modify it with your existing graphic elements.
    First way reqires less graphic work but more scripting etc.
    Second way is easier if you don't like to mess with scripts but you'll have more graphic copy/pasing work.
    I would suggest second way.
    Keep in touch and tell us any problem that you may encounter.

    BTW I don't know any XWB too. Web Designer is XWD.

    Good luck!
    John.

    Thanks again for the help. I will choosse the second option and try to reproduce with the old graphics the same design. I will surely need luck, but iīm optimistic, because until now iīve always had good experiences with XWD (this time itīs correct). Iīll show you the results when the work is finished.

    Hello John, i have already an important question. I can manage it to put the graphics on the layers you have created for the dynamic page. But there is a problem with my design. I have a grey rectangle and also a white rectangle with rounded corners in the middle ( where the placeholder will appear). When the content in the placeholder is bigger than the given space, the 2 rectangles have to stretch vertically down. How to do that? Thanks.
