Default Any news on porting Xara onto Apple?

Is there any news on porting Xara onto Apple?

Failing that my techie has an Apple.
What is the best format for me to export Xara files in?

I believe that XARA is not interesting about that...because they would made it yet!

I have Mac and for me it would fantastic...but I believe that it is only a dream. Anyway XARA made many money with XARA for MAC...

That very much depends on the purpose of files and which software your Mac pal is wanting to import the files into.

    More information please?

I'd say .PDF - it won't do everything, but only a .XAR would

it depends though on what program you will be using on the mac, if not illustrator then it could be another format would be better....

    Drat. :^(
(Would anyone from Xara care to comment??)

Well it turns out that my progammer/systems architect does not have any illustration software installed on his AppleMac yet of any sort.

Any thoughts as to what I should encourage him to use?
For now I guess I can send him a PDF although I dont know how
easy it will be for him to edit it.

(The diagrams are only very simple technical drawings
    - information flow diagrams, technology stacks etc)

If all you are doing is sending him illustrations to view then simply export them to as .png, .gif, or .jpg images. A Mac should be able to view those files without any special software.

No - it needs to be something that he can *edit* and send back...

I only have experience of two vector programs that are available on a mac - inkscape, which is free; and illustrator, which isn't [free]

I would think illustrator will have no problems with the PDF

As for inkscape, not certain of PDF on a mac - but xtreme 5 will export SVG and that is inkscape's native format so simple files in that format should be fine all being well

As long as sorts of transparency not available in Illustrator including gradients and vector feathering are not used, then Illustrator can understand it.

But these items are not understood properly in a .pdf already unless flattened to a bitmap.

Actually, it works better in Illustrator also to flatten anything which may cause problems and to convert text to curves or outlines.

Actually, if Illustrator had competition for MAC from Xara.... Adobe would have to insult it and then figure out how Xara does it. And every year that they add features which Xara has had for years they will exclaim their brilliance, and how continuously retarded Xara is. The features which were in CorelXara made DRAW the target of "how lame" jabs. Illustrator can't be too innovative, as in order to maintain their loyal customers upgrades, changing Illustrator too much, their people would have a fit. Look all the money they make on their seminars and books because Illustrator is inscrutable.

Though MAC is so cool otherwise. I would think Steve Jobs would offer to buy Xara for MAC and sell it under the MAC name because the simple and truly awesome software comes with MAC.

Maybe Xara is making money already by Adobe paying them NOT to port to MAC.

    That's funny.
