Default Xara X5 versus Xara WD

    Hi All,

I have done some small Webdesigns with XWD and I also had
Xara XP 4. Now I have bought an update and have Xara XP 5.

In Xara WD making a website is very very simple, the GUI is
empty enough to concentrate on only Webdesign.
Xara XP 5 has a very "filled " GUI, has anyone some experience
if it is as easy to make Webdesign in XP 5 as it was in WD?

I am not sure if I want to delete WD.

You don't NEED to delete XWD. I did because I was a XX4 user before XWD came out and when XX5 came I just upgraded.

i like having all the tools XX5 offers at my disposal. When I had both programs I found myself making things in XX4 then exporting them as bitmaps and importing them info XWD.

    Good luck!

Yep that is what I did, used everthing like plugins etc, made
a mockup on xx4 and then made bitmap copies from pieces that
were with plugins, and recently Bill thaught me that locking the
plugin would have achieved the same.

Thanks for your reactions, I will leave WD and am looking into all the extras in XXP5.

Thanks to Xara on Linux I bought it, it is great!

I gave XWD to my brother, I have no use for it now.

For those who still DO have XWD and XX4, you can create many of the xx4 objects in xx4 and copy/paste them into XWD. XWD will then give you the option to paste as a Xara document. If you do this, your objects which can only be CREATED in XX4 will be editiable (to the degree that there are tools for it) in XWD. For example, if you paste a blend in from xx4 to x2d, you can then still adjust the color of one end of the blend in XWD and it will fill out the blend accordingly.

Obviously, if you use live effects to create the look, you will still have to use a bitmap, but there are a number of things that paste in just fine.

    Hope that adds something.
