Flash is rendering fonts differently from Xara

When my flash file is exported from Xara (Xtreme Pro 5.1) the way that text is rendered in Xara looks very different from what it looks like in Xara !

In this example, flash file, I have taken a screenshot of what the font looks like on my screen in Xara, then saved it as GIF, and then imported it back into Xara.

As you can see the font ("T1 Gill Sans") looks somewhat different (worse) when rendered by Flash.

- Is flash always so poor at rendering fonts, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi Ship,

I've exported the text as swf and the same change occurs with the letters. It does seem that Adobe Flash Player has problems rendering fonts accurately.

It's not just fonts. Flash often does this with circular shapes as well. Sometimes the only way to avoid it is to add additional nodes.

See how Flash distorts the arches in the window.

Yes flash appears to be DREADFUL at rendering curves.
(Or is it a XARA exporting problem?(!!) )

You first statement is correct Ship.

Flash does not do curves but approximations using short line segments.
