Name group - possible?

Hi folks,

A quick search did not give any reply, so I ask here:
Is it possible to name groups in Xtreme 5 Pro?

Also, I'd like to understand the meaning of the little circles in front of the sub items figuring in the Name gallery. Sometimes they're half filled with red sometimes completely filled with red.

Not sure about Xtreme 5 Pro but it should work mostly the same as with older versions I think - 1) You can name groups, it will assign the name to all its members. 2) Full red circles mean that you have currently selected all objects with that name, half filled circle means you have selected only some of the objects wit this name. I hope its still valid

You are correct Suvek, Xtreme 5.1 Standard and Pro work the same as older versions.

Thanks a lot for your comment.
I'll dig in the names stuff as soon as I can. For now I just don't see any name in the Object gallery.
E.g. when you're working on a menubar, it's easy to get lost between all the Groups (buttons) and it would really be extremely helpfull to be able to read the name there too.
Certainly if you're debugging errors (I've created :-) ) with too much button parts straying around on various layers if you get what I mean...

Hi Erwin,

You can name groups and soft groups as well as individual shapes and lines.

The 3 attached images show two groups, blue button on layer 1 and red button on layer 2.

The two groups are also soft grouped and given a name.

The Name Gallery is also shown in each image. The circles to the left of each name show the 'selected' state as I clicked each circle to test selecting the individual groups.

Bill, thanks for your effort.
What I really mean is this:
As a fairly new Xara 5 Pro user, I (think) I realize the extreme (pardon the pun) benefit of XTP5's Object Gallery. At least I use it quite intensively to debug my personally created errors. Most of the errors stem from either incompletely copying buttons and / or pasting these to the wrong layer(s). This way I found I had probably twice the amount of 'button' parts than really necessary.

It seems to me that if the naming would be integrated towards the Object Gallery, this would greatly improve:
- identifying objects
- identifying 'unnamed' objects
Just the way you would name a newly added or duplicated page for that matter.
