Default don't believe all you see in the info bar

you have a bitmap that is not 96 dpi - 300dpi say, and you import it into xtreme

for some reason, so it appears to me, xtreme does not fractionalise the pixel dimensions on the info bar on import

not only this, but if you resize the bitmap this error is perpetuated on the info bar - though now pixels sizes are fractionalised, so compounding errors are minimalised if not avoided entirely - but its out, and not even out in aspect ratio proportion like as not - by a simple means of sizing up/down then export/import I now have 2 copies of the same bitmap at different pixel sizes in the bitmap gallery, when they should be the same

now I know some old hands are going to tell me that xtreme always exports a bitmap in whole pixels, so the fractionalised dimensions will get rounded

but if you don't mind me saying so, it's squiffy

a practical consequence of what I am trying to say:

    I have a 300 dpi scan bitmap - 228 by 428 pixels

import this into xtreme it shows:
    300dpi status bar
    73 x 137 pixels info bar
    228 x 428 pixels bitmap gallery

if I make a bitmap copy or export at 300dpi, the copy shows:

    300 dpi status bar
    73.3 x 137.3 pixels info bar
    229 x 429 bitmap gallery

they are not the same size - if you change the light contone and put the second behind the first you can clearly see this...

since making bitmap copies is necessary now to fix changes, I can only describe this behaviour as 'unfortunate'....

This has changed - it was not like this before, though not sure when as I only have xxp5 on this machine at present - thanks Steve

should this go in 'Dear Xara'?

I can repeat this example in version 4 Pro but not version 3.2 pro.
Maybe a result of the Very High Quality view introduced with version 4 (anti-aliasing?)

Yes I'll move the thread to Dear Xara..
