    Default Our neighbors

The neighbors from across the street came home from one of their fun trips. Instead of greeting us nicely, they started complaing about a car parked in front of our house that reflected in their front window. They have constant visitors, and thought it was one of their friends car. They still wanted us to take care of the problem, as they always do.
When they didn't get a response, the woman sent her man friend over. Not our problem we said. They finally got frustrated and actually did something themselves, and called to police.

As it turns out, the car was open with the keys in it. I had been there for over a week, and no one had stolen it again. No wonder no one came to move it.

You mean that the police actually showed up for
a car that reflected into their front window?
What is the charge? Being refelctive between 12:00 and 17:00
on week days? Will they charge the sun too?

Here it is more like if you call (the equivalent of) 911
that you are being mugged, they ask you if you can come
by the office tomorrow to file the crime.
be aware, not to become a ware.

Cars are only allowed to sit for three days before they may be considered abandon. It takes a lot longer to have an abandon car removed. There is a special patrol looking for those vehicles. Years ago, it was common to see a car appears during the night. A neighbor that lived up in the woods had a car that wouldn't start, and drug it down to our street. It had lots of good parts, but as the day went, so did the parts.

Because the car out front was stolen, It got moved the same day. The vehicle removal specialist said our area is the highest car theft area in the county. Of course, it is the highest in drug arrest as well. Next is motorcycle road kills.

I took the Highway Patrol motorcycle riding class, and canot believe the way they ride.
The officer had to stop the removal process and go to a road kill. We took Mook for a ride, and saw the accident. Then we were passed by about 50 bikes going about 80MPH around a blind curve.

    A never ending story.

A quick look on the web shows boulder creek as a lovely small town where little happens. The local crime map is pretty innocent.

They don't even tell us. When we moved here, there were several meth labs behind us. A young girl became critically ill from the fumes and was hospitalized for several months. We were never informed. We found out years later from a frined whose daughter had gone to school with the girl.

The daughter just left high school, and is now living under a house with her boyfriend.

One of themeth people was living in the forest in an old water tank with his daughter. At least the girl was young enough to be his daughter. He later moved to a place near us, but was arrested for meth.

A mass murderer lived down the street from us. It may have been the one I went to school with. Anyway, that one was arrested when he was going for my friends daughter.

    Alfred Hitchcock lived here.

The brothel is about a mile from us.

We here occasional explosions from drug labs.

    Only occasional gun fire.

    Lots of histroy.

You can enter and leave the town at the same time.

Wow. A lot going on. I revisited the map and saw I was just looking at the assault info. A lot more popped up when I just chose Boulder Creek. Many years ago i was chatting to a guy in Florida and he looked disbelieving when I said I didn't know anyone with a gun. The only guns I've ever seen in real life have been carried by the police or soldiers. I remember US news reports feature shoot-outs and drug raids in localities, while they are still very unusual here. Keep safe.

Probably more danger due to mountain lions and wild boar. I haven't seen any lion signs in the garden lately. There are thousands of boar in the mountains. They have been coming down for water and food.

The parks may close due to lack of funding. If you came here, you would only need to stay five minutes to see the town.

The trees in the garden are not as tall as the ones in the park, and only about 8 feet in diameter. Still fairly large, though.

No butterflys. There haven't been any for about two years. Ocean is still here if you like dead seals.

If there weren't constant sirens, it would be quiet here.

I really do not envy you nor your village. The only gun fire we ever hear around here is when I eat too many beans and it usually ends with the wife kicking me out of bed!!!!!!!!

If any body wants to visit Rich, I was put on to a new site this week which in some cases is better than google maps, in our area, worst.

    .......... www.bing.com ........

In the case of Boulder Creek, you have really good arial photos and if you click the birds eye view, you can see all the houses in 3d and can even rotate them 360 degrees. If Rich gave his address or Postal code we would be able to see his particular house.

The only trouble with the site, for the birds eye view it only works with internet explorter, which I never use, so I had to swollow my pride with this one. Also, you will have to download a plug in to make it work. Glad I did however cause I am really enjoying playing with it....should last a couple of days more before I get bored with it.
If Rich ever lets us zoom in on his house I will try to throw cybernet rocks at his roof to say hello.

And with all the negative things you are mentioning in this thread, you still have taken some really great photos of your area. I really love the pictures taken in the train scrap yard (I presume that is close to you). Maybe you could post the co-ordinates to it so I can see it in google or bing maps....the closest I will ever get to visiting it......frank
