    Default Sometimes you get lucky.

I saw an old computer standing by the road by the trash.
It was already open, I looked into it, and yes, the memory was still in it.
I took it out, and yes, it was the 512Mb simm dimm (whatever) I exactly needed
to bring my computer up to 1 Gb.
And after installing it worked, hooray, I am so happy now.

I was just teasing but thanks for responding I looked at vid cards in the store and they are too much for just needing to test a computer that might be fried. We have a Tiger Electronics near us so I am going to trapse on over there someday and browse around. I've never been in before.

No kidding... What kind of VidCard do you need... (AGP or PCIE etc.) What I've got may not have much memory, but I'm fairly sure I can let you have something good enough to test with (please excuse the preposition).

Looking at the computer in this thread, I would say its a AGP card.

Zupdude, thanks for the offer. I believe it is an APG card. Sledger has suggested an APG 8X card. This is a PC running Windows XP pro. I can even send it back to you after I test with it and I'll pay freight both ways. I'm very prompt.

If you still want to, please pm me and I'll send you my full address. I live in Illinois USA, hope that's not a problem.

Hmmm, wonder if this would make a really nice area for our community?
Open a "Swap" area, where members can mention an item they are looking for, and other members (who might have spare parts laying about) could offer to send them?
Ore those with items laying around they want to get rid of, can put em up on the list and give contact info for those wanting them?

Of course.. the receivee would pay any shipping costs

On topic.. I could not even begin to tell you all the numerous PCs and parts I have gotten over the years from people just throwing them out. Even 1 yr old PCs because the video card died or something, or maybe they even just messed up the settings, etc.
Sadly though.. most of the towns around me prohibit PCs in the garbage now
But, I definitely got more than my fair share while it lasted and have no complaints
