Sometime ago Tao Jones was frequently on this forum and I loved the drawings he created which had the look of a aquarel (water-colour you say). This is a water-colour painting I did in 1990 and its remake in Xara. I like to hear what you think of it.

    Hi Joto,

The colors are too bright and the separation is too abrupt to look much like a water color. The water color is very nice tho.

Desaturate(lighten) the colors and feather much more and I think you could duplicate this pretty picture.

Nice interpretation Jolande, it's certainly not exact but you know you COULD make it look like a watercolor painting if you used a bit of feathering here and there and you CAN create a very close water colour painting effect including the canvas texture.

I've attatched a .xar file for you too look at and experiment with, using your wonderful reproduction. It took me about 10 mintues of playing around to do. I hope it gives you some ideas.

Tao uses allot of feathering and transparencies in his work to achieve the subtle blends he created. I miss his work, it was inspiring!!

    Hallo Jolande

I put your image through PaintshopPro 8 and this is the end result (only used the pastel effect).
If you don't have PSP 8 you might want to give it a try, in combo with Xara I get the nicest effects.

    Jolande,
I agree with John and Richard. Some softening, feathering and texture would get you where you want with this, I believe.

I, like you, really love Tao's work and miss him here.

Thanks for your comments. I like to explain what my intentions were. Ron, Richard and Johns, you're right if you say the drawing isn't like the painting but my goal was to create a drawing that has the feel of a watercolour painting in the style I've seen by Tao.
Tim, this is my first one but certainly not the last. I will post them if you like.
