Default HELP with Home page not loading

First I want to commend who ever designed this program... excellent. I am telling all of my friends that are interested in web design.

Second... I must of did something wrong. I created a website ... uploaded it with no problems...(did not use a template). I customized one from scratch. The website runs only if I use the (index.html) extension (www.example.com/index.html. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Urfixable,

    Welcome to Talkgraphics.

Would you provide the URL for your site so we can take a look?

It may be that your site expects the main page to be named index.html rather than the default index.htm created by Web Designer.

Your page when loading to your isp should be named 'index.html' only

Typically, a site will use either the index.html or index.htm files depending what it has. However, if you are updating a site that has a index.html file with the index.htm file, obviously it's not going to overwrite it as the file extensions are different. Web servers will use the html extension as a preference. You can either rename index.htm as index.html or delete the original index.html file. Both methods should work.

Your INDEX.HTML is a directory. The complete URL is http://www.yourmindprint.com/index.html/index.htm

I don't know what you mean about it not working -- seems it is if you have the url correct.

    Regards, Ross
