    Oh, very nice Dan

Comments? um, perhaps the front surface on the U could be a bit flatter... other than that, I dunno if there is a need for a washer by the nut or not... ( I would put one in just to gain the extra detail ) but yea, this is looking very cool, keep it going Dan...

Can't wait to see this textured

Wow Dan! Looks like I remember them. Once you add the texture and lighting, it should look like a photo. I really like the cotter pin, adds to the realism.

Very realistic indeed. Still struggling with it. But no hurry. Someday, I'll be able to do something like that. Materials is something I'm hesitant to tackle. Without any built in presets, you'd have to do them from scratch. I'm still trying to figure out how to do a transparent reflective glass in Blender. It's a pleasant and challenging diversion, though.

Here it is with some color and a bit of texture. I haven't played that much with Blender's texture feature... Getting the grasp of modeling first.

And now the perspective views... I added a washer at the pin location and under the nut.
I'm not very happy with the cable but it's a start.

well, this is looking good Dan... I like the washer under the nut... but somehow the one under the pin head takes away somewhat... maybe try putting it by the cotter pin instead? I dunno really...

but yea, the washer under the nut really fits well... looks great

also, I am still convinced that the bevel on the front top of the U has to has to match the edges more... would also give a nicer seat for the washer there should you decide to keep the washer at that location...

if your cable ends up anything like your hook then you will be doing just fine I loves that hook...

    good stuff Dan

Looking good Dan. I agree with Gidget about having the washer under the cotter pin. The cable sure shows some weirdness in the perspective views. Is it due to Moire effect?

Here it is... final version for this project... (for now at least. My Blender abilities aren't developped that much. I'll have to learn more to create better...)

Put a washer on the cotter pin side. The bevel has been removed on the U part so it is flatter.
As for the cable... I still have a lot to master (material and texture) to get what I really wanted for that part.
