Default X3D animated gifs in Web Designer

I exported an animated gif - File/export animation and then tried to drag it into web designer. I got a rather raggy none animated frame showing two pictures.
Can x3d gives be used in WD? If so how?
    Regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Yes they can be used, but you must use a placeholder and then replace with graphic file.

Just out of curiosity, how come you need a placeholder to have an animated gif on the page instead of just dragging it onto the page like images?

I tried it and got the rotating image - in fact, I got TWO images. One looks OK the second one looks like the shadow. It is a an aminated version of the .gif file that I brought into WD without the place holder.?????

I assume because WD can only import static images and not animation frames into a .web document and would export it to *.png or *.jpg anway

Don't drag the animated gif into your document. Use a blank rectangle for the placeholder only.

WD does not support animated objects internally.

I went back to x3d and took the shadows off. Then the gif came across to WD OK. Is that a limitation of 3d or wd or is it possible to export a design with shadows from 3d into wd?

    Hi Peter,

Animated gifs do not work well with shadows unless you use it over the same color background it was created with. In Xara3D make the background color the same as the web page background. This will allow the shadows to blend in on the page rather than standout and look out of place.
