Default Cmyk/rgb color in painter ix.5

Hi. I am getting frustrated. I have designed biz cards in PAINTER IX MAC. They are in RGB. The prof'l printer prefers CMYK. I converted but my beautiful red goes ugly orange. I have read EVERYTHING about conversion and colors so I understand WHY it happens. I want a way to USE it. I have the color # for red in CMYK but can't find any way to use it in this program. Am I missing something? Do you know of programs that let you WORK in cmyk from the start? Corel has cancelled support for this program (in other words, buy a new one, and I really can't afford it).

Any wise words would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
PS is there a way to get email notification when there are replies?

Painter IX does not work in CMYK. It can only export to CMYK in .psd (photoshop) format (which will change any out of gamut colours) but it will NOT read the colour format properly if you try and open up a cmyk doc. You will need to open the file in a program like Photoshop/Elements, or Corel Photo-Paint (part of the Corel Draw suite). If you're on a PC you could try the free image editor Paint.Net and see if it did cmyk.
