Default Poor quality export to jpg bitmap in CorelDraw

HI - new to all this but a friend uses corel draw for her local news paper.

When she saves the work including photos and exports it jpg bitmap (?) the quality is very poor. looses colour looks rubish - where in photoshop you can save a work including a picture and it looks well just as good as the picture you added to the work?

    any ideas guys?

    Amstrever,

    Welcome to the forum.

If you use the settings in the screen grab, does it make a difference?
(Don't change the width & height - that would be my image size)

Good post. DRAW gives you plenty of ability to export high quality (large) to low quality (small) bitmap images, including JPGs. Likely you're either compressing the files too much, or exporting at to low of resolution.

    Hi Field,

    Welcome to Talkgraphics.

Corel Draw would be most similar to Adobe Illustrator and not Photoshop.

Corel PhotoPaint and Paint Shop Pro are more like Photoshop.

As to which is easier to learn would depend more on your previous graphics software experience. If you have used vector graphics software then Corel Draw would be easier to learn than Photoshop. If you have used bitmap (raster) graphics software similar to Photoshop then Photoshop would be easier to learn than Corel Draw.

To add to Bill's reply above, you can also download a free fully functional trial of Xara Xtreme 4 here - just click on the "Try It" button.
It is cheaper than both CorelDraw and Illustrator, and is easier to learn than either of them. Plus it can do a lot of the things that Paintshop Pro can do with photos.
    Saludos,
    Bob.
