Thanks neodeist, but slightly off-topic (I think). I want button 1, page 1, to open Page 5, layer 1. Button 2, page 1, to open page 5, layer 2, etc. Coxover supplied code at bottom of 1st page of this thread, but I am missing something.

I think what Covoxer is saying is that the code should be

if(document.location.search=="pagename.htm?1")my_o pen("layer1");
if(document.location.search=="pagename.htm?2")my_o pen("layer2");

etc

NB No gap in open ... it's alright in preview then it appears when posted !

I set up a basic 2 page website to get my arms around this. No luck. I don't give up easy but my lack of knowledge of script and html code makes it tough. But thanks for the effort.

Seems Xara could make an enhancement to allow a link to "pagename:layer".

You & me both. Mind you, Xara is designed for those without such knowledge to use ... thing is the answer is there but just out of reach some of the time it seems
