Default Meta Tags are visibly appearing on the webpage

I have tried to paste my meta tags into both the web page and the
website by right click --> web page proprieties---> keywords.

Why do they insist on showing up on the page itself?
How do I enter my search keywords without them appearing?

    You can see it here:

    Thank you for your
    > help,

    Chris

For some strange reason, the tags aren't terminated correctly.

    <meta name="Generator" content="Xara HTML filter v.2.1.0.665">

    should be

    <meta name="Generator" content="Xara HTML filter v.2.1.0.665"/>

    etc..

    ??

Paul, you right. I haven't noticed this. This is true for img tags as well.

Chris, have you processed the page exported by WD in some other program? It looks definitely altered.

Thanks for all of your prompt replies -

The page was made and published entirely with the Xara Web Designer - V5.0.1.7886 DL

Looks like I am using too many keywords?
My hope was to list every herb mentioned in the site (literally hundreds).

Regardless of any XWD limitation it sounds like madness to me. Do you really think people want to wait for that lot to download to access your site?

I have a feeling it might impact badly on your SEO rating as well - no proof of course.

Probably. But it's still not clear what had happened to the closing tags.
My hope was to list every herb mentioned in the site (literally hundreds).
You can use head placeholder for this.

Again, thanks for your prompt replies.
I have two more related questions now -

Do you all think it is a bad idea for seo results?
    Here are my download times:

    Connection Rate Download Time
    14.4K 60.55 seconds
    28.8K 31.77 seconds
    33.6K 27.66 seconds
    56K 17.80 seconds
    ISDN 128K 7.53 seconds
    T1 1.44Mbps 3.39 seconds

    Is that considered too long?

And, if I decide to do a "head placeholder" - how is that done?

Thanks for all of your help -

    Hi quintacal

The keyword meta tag is mostly ignored by most search engines, especially when the words do not appear as visible text on the page.

Most surfers have given up and clicked elsewhere after about 8 seconds (according to studies I has seen)

This may help with the "head" code
