Frankly, I find the moving navigation buttons annoying, and the insertion of the [insignificant] graphic unhelpful.

Program simplicity is good (as it the case with the jewel, called Xara Web Designer). While adding a core subset of smart extentions makes sense, care must be taken to not over-bloat ... it seems to me.

John you can use a placeholder and replace with a flash file. That is what is done on the page in your link.

That is a flash file and could probably be done with XARA

I think I posted this in another thread. How would you link a flash button to a page or a page element?

Can you give a very simple example of how a "button" in a .web file (which would be used to make the flash file) would be annotated? And maybe show how the flash file when embedded into a .web file would trigger an action in the file.

I understand your response Steve, I'm just interested in the "mechanics" of how to do this.

John I think you are over thinking it.

The entire area you marked in your attachment is a flash video. The mouse over on one of the names (a shape within the flash video) triggers a jump to a frame in the animation which tweens to a new frame with an image. A stop prevents the animation from continueing until the mouse if over another name.

All the activity is done in flash, not the webpage itself.

If you disable flash (shown disabled in Opera here) you can see that from header to ads/footer is a single flash file.
