    Default Meta Tagging Question

    I was wondering if the validate meta tag is in the correct position because couple search couldn't see the string where WD codes it at bottom of page before the closing body tag, however after i manually paste them within the head then the verification passed.

    Than you in advance

    What is "validate meta tag"? How do you insert it into your document (WD does not produce anything like this)? What are you trying to achieve?

    Sorry if you misunderstood what i was trying to ask...

    In the web Properties Box you have there a Tracker code section.
    It's this type of coding i tried to place a Verify Meta String that google requires to have my page allowed in searches.

    Well the tracker code sections places whatever meta tag content at the bottom of said web page, while i want it to be within the head section.

    thank you

    Hi mljk

    All meta tags should go in the head section, I believe this can be achieved by using a place holder named <head> where you can insert your verification code.

    Tracker code goes at the bottom via the web properties dialogue.

    Hope that helps

    I understand the location part, however being able to add such string i spoke of via the properties box would be much easier than to place each meta string manually with web a page editor in between the head section.

    Just view the source of a page created in WD you'll see the type of string i am referring to:

    <meta name="XAR pngs" content="35"/>
    <meta name="Generator" content="Xara HTML filter v.2.1.0.665"/>

    i want to be able to do the same for the Head Tags Metas what the tracker box does for tracking codes. a simple box to them.

    Phew...

    it's okay i'll just do this in front page until such time.

    If I am understanding you correctly, (and as referred to by Drwyd) this should achieve the result you are seeking?

    Yes,
    How nice it would be to have a box for that in Web Properties.

    Question then...
    Is the placeholder rectangle removed from the page it's placed on?

    in other words, say i have a page riddled with content and nowhere to put a placeholder on it, so do i create a new layer and add this rectangle and replace with html code,
    now after i replace this placeholder with desired code, can i safely delete the layer after i create the replacement code?

    Thank you

    If you delete the placeholder the code will also be removed.
